Scotland has been named the world's best golf destination in a prestigious award being held in the Middle Eastern City of Abu Dhabi. The World Golf Awards, which is held annually, is in its ninth year and celebrates excellence in golf tourism with the winner selected by tour operators, golfing media, and fans from around the world.

Double victory for Costa Navarino in the main international distinctions of the World Golf Awards 2022. In addition to the prestigious award for "Best emerging golf destination in the world", the destination has also been awarded the prize for "Best new golf course in the world for the International Olympic Academy Golf Course at Navarino Hills during the award ceremony in Abu Dhabi.

World Golf Awards – the annual awards that recognises and rewards excellence in golf tourism – has revealed this year’s best golf organisations at its 9th annual Gala Ceremony in Abu Dhabi.Scotland, the home of golf and of many of the world’s finest courses, was voted ‘World’s Best Golf Destination’, whilst the historic Shinnecock Hills Golf Club, host of the 2026 US Open, was recognised as ‘World’s Best Golf Course’. Scotland’s Paul Lawrie received the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ in acknowledgment of his outstanding contribution to golf.
